Such a smart boy!

He really is the smartest kid. He is 18 months and 2 days old today. He is talking A LOT! And since he is talking and trying to learn new words I have decided to try and teach him things he is doing. Therefore I have taught him what "poopy" means and he now tells me when he is pooping. So I have now decided I will be potty training Ollie soon. I figured if he can tell me then he can definitely be trained. Plus I would love to have him trained within the next year so I don't have to worry about diapers and worry about training him in the middle of my stressful medical school applying.

Other words he says are ball, hi, no-no, yeah, drink, food, bink (binky), bed, soft, naughty, nice, bye-bye see ya, stinky, poopy, kitty (plus meow), dog (plus ruff-ruff), cracker, cookie, mom, pop-pop (grandpa), mama (grandma), up, down, book, baby, shoe, sock and that's all I can think of off the top of my head. :D

We went to the elementary school by our house and played on the playground for the first time. He LOVED the slide. He went down all by himself and sometimes even head first which scared me. He was so good. Once he got tired he asked to get in the stroller so we could walk back home. How I LOVE my little guy!

Pessimistic

I have to say I'm giving up on this whole job thing. I have officially turned in 85 applications to IHC, 5 to Mountainstar and some to Ogden Clinic. My two interviews last week apparently didn't go as well as I hoped since I didn't receive either job. I hate the feeling that I will be stuck waiting on table until I get into medical school if I can even get into that. I'm so frustrated. I wish instead of basing things off of interviews they should base it off intelligence. Andy received a letter from a doctor's office and you should see how many typos and errors there are in a 3 paragraph letter, but I can't get a job. UGH! This SUCKS!!!!! :(

Still having a summer

I hate that I have to take summer classes, because it doesn't even feel like summer. I have tried to act like it though to keep me from going insane. Jenny and I took the kids to the gateway last week and I've been playing soccer for the last 6-7 weeks. Tomorrow we're taking Ollie swimming at the aquatic center since he LOVES the water. I'm excited to get a tan...LOL! I've also officially signed up to do the Dirty Dash race with my sister and her sister-in-laws in September. I'm actually really excited, but worried about my knee. It has been hurting a little worse in the last couple days. I've still been running though and it feels a little bit better afterward. My family and I are going up to Henderson's cabin this weekend. I'm pretty excited to see it. It has a sauna, movie theater, play room and all sorts of stuff. Thanks Hendersons for going out of town! :D

I still haven't heard back from any of the jobs I interviewed for last week. Makes me believe I didn't get the job. And on top of it my liquor license expired so I have to redo it in order to continue serving at my current job. Yuck!

This past week though Casie and I went and saw the play RENT. It was so good! We went to Happy Sumo before and had sushi which was pretty good.
Okay...I'm going to go and buy my own pedometer so I can keep track of my running. Until next time...

The Waiting Game....

This past week I have 2 jobs interviews both of them with Intermountain Healthcare (IHC). First one is working in an OB/GYN office doing clerical stuff and whatnot. The second job is working with people who have seizures and monitoring them. I felt GREAT about the first job interview, but the second one was just okay. I would love to have the first job because it pays more, is in Ogden/Layton/N. Ogden and works with school. I have been sick to my stomach for almost a week because I've waited 2 years to get a job with IHC. I would love to get out of the food industry and work towards something that will help my life and career. I'm not going to lie, I'm probably going to cry if I don't get the first job and with my luck I'll get the second one just because I don't really want to do it, but will do it because I want to work for IHC. It's so hard not to get my hopes up about it though. I should be happy I finally got an interview, which I am, but I REALLY REALLY want a job.

I also went to the doctor about my knee. They took more x-rays and did this test to test my ACL (which is torn slightly) and looked at my MRI again. This time I got to look at it which was awesome. You could see the slight tear I have and how much fluid is in it. Fluid is the major concern which is why I'm going back in 2 months for a followup. He said I could continue running and playing soccer unless my knee swells or feels worse. I DID sign up for the Dirty Dash race in Sept so I hope everything stays intact and swelling goes down....

Only time will tell eh?

I'm falling apart...

My knee has been hurting pretty bad lately. I had a horrible time even finding out what was wrong with it! I got a MRI and they said they would call me in a couple days. 4 days later I called them and complained about never getting a call which then I get forwarded to a voicemail of my doctor's nurse which also never called me back. Two days later I called back and refused to be forwarded unless it was someone who was going to give me results. This lady gets on the phone and says " I don't know what this means, but I'll read it to you.." after that I get forwarded to physical therapy office which had no clue why they were seeing me. I decided at that point that was just a bad idea. I got a hold of McKay Dee's sport medicine office and told the girl what happened and so she put me on hold to talk to the doctor and then got me an appointment. A couple days later she called me back to tell me the doctor had looked at my MRI and said I don't need surgery but I need some form of treatment because I did slightly tear my ACL. It hurts when I sit for longer than 20 minutes. I'm still playing soccer and run once in a while until I'm told otherwise. :D

First Battle Wound

Ollie got his first real battle wound from walking. My mom took him shopping with her while I was at work. I get a call from my mom saying "you need to meet us at the ER, Ollie hit his head and needs stitches!" so I rush out of there leaving 2 tables. I rushed to the ER beating them there. Apparently while shopping my mom let Ollie walk and she turned to ask the sales lady about shoes for him to walk in and when she turned he was in the process of falling and hit his head on a table in Dillards. Everyone was freaking out and then told my mom she had to stay there to fill out an accident report before she could take my son to the ER! Unbelievable! I know where they are coming from but when a toddler is bleeding from his head you should probably let them get to a hospital! Anyways...he ended up with 3 stitches. I had pictures lined up for tonight but obviously had to cancel since Ollie had stitches....not the cutest pictures...

Getting my mind somewhere else

I've been thinking a lot about my birthday which is still 6 months away. It's the big 11/11/11 birthday which also falls on a Friday. Couldn't get any better than that right? I will be 26. Crazy. I feel like I really haven't lived that long. Anyways...I've been try to think of something to do. I want to do something really fun, because I never get to do anything super exciting for my birthday. Usually it is for others' birthdays and whatnot. It's hard though. I don't know where I will be and honestly almost everyone has kids now which means it's harder to get together or plan something. I don't know what to do....

I get to go have my first MRI on my knee on Thursday. I'm not supposed to do any major running or playing soccer, but we'll see how that goes... :) I think I might have torn something because of how it hurts, but I hope I'm wrong.

Ollie is getting so big. He is 15 months old. He is starting to walk and say a lot of words. He is such a crack up. He thinks things are funny even when they aren't which in turn makes it funny. I'm hoping to get his pictures done soon. :D
